Fun Winter Destinations in VT with Timber Frames

By Sandy Connolly on December 12, 2013

In Vermont, we are blessed with some of the best skiing and boarding, so this time of year means it’s time to celebrate the snow! Let’s take a look at a few of the coolest places to visit that also happen to feature timber framing by Vermont Timber Works. Let’s go…this is going to be fun!

Founder’s Lodge at Stratton Mountain in Stratton, VT.  After you’re done skiing and head back to the lodge, don’t forget to look up in the porte cochere.

Jay Peak in Jay, VT.  There are king post trusses by VTW on the exterior of the Tram Haus Lodge. There is also a porte cochere outside Hotel One with a timber frame by VTW.

Spruce Camp Base Lodge in Stowe, VT.  The base lodge at Spruce Peak is an 80ft span octagon with a timber frame interior. Also, the skiing at Stowe is great!

The Trapp Family Lodge, also in Stowe, VT.  There is cross country skiing, snow shoeing, and even horse drawn sleigh rides at the Trapp Family Lodge. We provided timber framing for 3 areas of the lodge, as well as ceiling beams for the wing addition.

Hotel One was fun to see, I think a visit to Stowe is in order. Speaking of sleigh rides, do you think Ash and Zip would do that?

We can go visit the Spruce Camp Base Lodge and Trapp Family Lodge anytime you would like! But there is no way our horses would pull a sleigh, hahaha.
